Lost and Found
2010.
Site specific installation for the
Site Specifics' 10 exhibition, Islip Art Museum, East Islip, NY, USA.
Found objects, nylon thread.
1070 x 1300 x 250 cm high
(35 x 42 x 8 ft high).
A circle of suspended objects found on Fire Island beaches is intertwined with a second circle made of objects gathered in the area around the Islip Museum. Arranged by color and shape, the objects are suspended individually.
The two circles represent two days' walks, but they also evoke the vicious circle we all are part of production, consumption, pollution as well as the several thousands miles-wide circle of plastic garbage swirling in the ocean, and the rings of rubbish orbiting the Earth and drifting through outer space.
